Oh, little bench, what will you be?

Last weekend I took a little road trip and ended up trolling for treasures out in the country. I didn't have anything in particular on my mental shopping list, but I was definitely in the mood to find things that would make the shop more Spring-ish. Maybe old flower pots, garden statues, iron furniture, benches or who knows what.

When I started to head back to the City, someone looked at the stack of stuff going into my car and said, "Gosh, you sure are on a bench bender."

I laughed out loud, and thought about all the benches already at Timeless Treasures. We have primitive footstools from France and round kitchen stools I found back East. We just brought in a long wooden bench with old red and brown paint on it that I found on Russian Hill last week. I love showing people new ways to work them into home decorating.

Last evening, we pulled together all the benches in the store and took a picture. Don't they look great all stacked together? I just love the mixture of old paint colors and different wood surfaces. Makes me think of all kinds of ways to use a bench at home. They're priced from $65 to $120.

This afternoon, I wrote a poem about little benches... I call it Oh Little Bench And here's how it goes:

Oh little bench what will you be?
How many uses for you can we see?

Beside my bed
stashing a book to be read?

Or in the den
holding my journal and pen?

Maybe by the couch,
where I set wine that I enjoy so much.

To pile up fresh towels by the tub
for drying off after a rub-a-dub-dub?

To prop up my feet,
or as an extra seat.

For my keys to be right by the door
to eliminate the hunt for them as I race out to the store.

Or as a youngster's little seat
Now isn't that neat?

The end!

I hope you'll come and see them, and pick out one for your place. Be sure and let me know how you're planning to use it!
