Celebrating Earth Day? Consider something vintage, something green.

In thinking about Earth Day 2007, it occurred to us that vintage, antique, recycled and hand-me-down home furnishings were the first green products. Green in the eco-friendly sense, of course.

That's part of the reason why, as many of you know who have shopped at Timeless Treasures, we scour antique auctions, flea markets and estate sales for vintage pieces that have enduring style and a sense of history.

Our pulse quickens at the sight of a cupboard with the original, wavy glass panes in its doors, or a bench that has layers of paint that reflect years of use. Everything old has a story, and even when we don't know exactly what that history may be, we can imagine the people who sat at it, slept on it, ate at it and welcomed company to it. We also appreciate the beauty of its design and the fine materials and craftsmanship that went into creating something that has lasted so long.
