our cure for the "my-place-is-blah" blues

Seems as though everyone is talking about words. First there was Spellbound, the film. Then Word Play, the movie. And Spelling Bee, the play. At Timeless Treasures, we get a kick out of coming up with just the right word or phrase that will make you laugh or sigh with delight every time you see it on a wall at your home or workspace.

For some people, it's the names of their kids arranged on the walls in their bedrooms, or a word like play splashed across a wall of the family room. For someone who teaches yoga, it is breathe in small white porcelain letters. For people who love to cook and entertain, it's bon appetit! arranged on the wall of their dining room.

At our house we are inspired by the word imagine. It evokes all kinds of good thoughts... just imagine! Here you can see how it brings life to a plain wall in the kitchen.

Each letter has a story. The large G, for instance, was part of an old sign in North Carolina. The M came from the movie marquee of a now-defunct San Francisco movie theater. We found the old wooden N and E at a salvage company in Vermont. All together they create a warm sense of nostalgia, as well as a present reminder.

As often as possible, at Timeless Treasures we note where we found each letter. For people who appreciate old typography or primitive sign letters made by hand, the bits of history seem important. Time and time again they say how much they like the look and feel of worn surfaces and chipped paint.

The mystery and history of these vintage letters seems to prompt "the inner artist" in a lot of people to explore and create something personal and special.

For our favorite lovebirds Robyn and Michael, who are getting married this weekend, the word is dReaM. Using a giant R and a giant M to anchor their word, they have a dream that's as individual as they are.

For Stephanie, who is Mom to Linc and Allie, the names of the two toddlers bring delight whenever she or her husband Chris glances at the wall above their beds.

For Betty in her first home in Marin, the phrase life's a banquet greets everyone who comes into her dining room. She says it makes her feel right at home in her new place.

And for a woman who recently opened a bodywork practice, the words inhale and exhale hit the spot. She chose a giant H common to both words and arranged them in a diagonal design in her studio.

We cannot wait for you to come to Timeless Treasures and create something personal for your place!
